Advanced Linux course

The Advanced Linux course is aimed for whoever wants to improve their understanding on the GNU/Linux operative system, for this reason having some previous, basic knowledge about it is compulsory in order to take this course. Ideally, participants would have previously attended the Basic Linux course, also taught at the Center for Scientific Computing.

The course, whose duration is of 25h, has as its purpose giving a broad overview to the tools which can be used for a simplification of daily tasks regarding for instance administration of the machines and their resources.

The syllabus for the course is:

1) Installation of Linux on a set of computers.
2) NFS.
3) NIS.
4) The Linux kernel.
5) Administration tools.
6) Security tools.
7) Boot managers.
8) System daemons. Boot scripts.
9) Samba.
